In a crock pot or saucepan, combine 1 organic orange cut into 4 pieces, including peel. Add 1 inch fresh ginger peeled or 1 tsp dried ginger. Sprinkle in 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper. Echinacea is also a nice addition - I use 1 rounded tsp. You can also add green tea or chamomile (about 2 tsp). After you have added all the ingredients, fill pan or crock pot with 8 cups of water.

My daughter contracted lice when she was in 1st grade and when we discovered it, it was really bad. She had already infected her 2 sisters by then. What a nightmare - 3 girls with long hair! We even found a few on their younger brother, who thankfully has short hair. We figured she had been infected for about 2 weeks given all the lice that was in her hair. It was quite creepy....

We use plantain leaves straight out of the yard for bug bites and infected wounds. We bring it inside, rinse it off, roll it up and mash it a little to get it juicy. Then we apply it directly to the area and hold it on there with a bandaid. We usually do this at night and by morning the redness and puss is gone. Sometimes we do it during the day for wasp...

My 82-year-old stepdad came down with a nasty bug a few weeks ago. It hit him suddenly, and within a couple of hours he was flat on his back. As soon as I heard he was sick, I went to the stove and boiled some elderberries in 2 cups of water, added some sage, alfalfa and lemon grass and simmered it for an hour. I let it steep covered for 2 more hours, then...

(After roughly 24 hrs of soaking, discard and start over as the squares get too soft.) - Apply soaked square peel inside down on top of wart.

My husband's case of Athlete's Foot fungus was cured by soaking his feet in a foot tub filled with white distilled vinegar deep enough to cover feet. He did this for 20 minutes over 5 consecutive nights. The house will smell like pickles for an hour or so, but this works! His Athlete's Foot has not returned, and it has been years.

A surprisingly simple but effective way to cure a migraine headache is to drink as much water as possible (I use room temperature.) The water thins the blood and gets oxygen into the system. I've learned to 'catch' a headache approaching, and drink a half gallon of water over the course of an hour or so, which prevents the headache from even starting. (My symptoms are a low ache in the back of my...

One day, after being out in tall grass, I discovered that I had chigger bites all over my legs and lower back. Itchy chigger bites get old fast! On that fateful day, I discovered how to pamper away the itchiness. I discovered that a nice lavender bath took the itch out. Here is the recipe, hope it helps: To my bath, I added one handful of powdered lavender, one handful of sea salt, and...

Hayfever Relief

Chewing raw honeycomb for 15 minutes, then spitting out remaining wax, has been very helpful for my teen daughter's severe hayfever and allergies. Use the amount of a piece of chewing gum, each morning. Repeat if needed a couple times during the day.

Chamomile (inhale the steam) and nettle are also helpful.

This is a very old remedy I learned from my German neighbors. Hold a fresh cut piece of onion (or garlic) on the ear (not IN) with the cut end facing the eardrum. The fumes are very antibiotic and antiviral and will get right up into the infected ear. I have used this at least 6 or 8 times with a crying feverish child in the middle of the night, and it never has...

I was reading your (BHS) testimonies and came across one mother that referred to needing a remedy "for my 3 year-old daughter which actually tames an itchy, red, dry rash on her hands that has plagued her for two years." This sounds just like my daughter's problem several years ago! We discovered that the rash was caused by a yeast infection or a parasite.
Pink eye is pretty scary to a lot of people. It jumps from one person to the next very quickly. It's actually just a cold in the eye. A GREAT way to get rid of this is by using chamomile tea bags. Soak and place on eye for a few minutes. If you have small children who won't sit still, just soak a tea bag and use a wet cotton ball every 10-15 min....
